Kindness
Recently, I have been reminding the children about one word that can make our school and world a better place - kindness. Sometimes a smile can change someone’s day.
Kindness is the little things as well as the big things but throughout it all, it is thinking of others as well as ourselves. Seeing when people may need that friend, support, words of encouragement. I am so proud of our children at All Saints, I know we can’t be ‘perfect’ all of the time but the kindness shines out of them. They want to help others and always come to help those in need.
In Assembly yesterday, we gave out more merit certificates than usual and the majority were given out for acts of kindness and for kindness shown to others.
It is so often that we get consumed with so much bad news and bad press, dreadful things happening, life not always going the way we want but understanding that reacting to these things with a more positive outlook and kindness can make a big difference in the way we can see forward. This is something we teach the children.
We never know what kind of a day someone is having before an interaction we may have with them. If we treat everyone with the kindness and respect that we would expect back, our school community will continue to thrive.
Quick Reminder that toys and teddies of any kind shouldn’t be brought to school. I understand that this can seem unfair but it can often cause a lot of distress and issues within the classroom. In EYFS and KS1 we have plenty of our own resources that children can share without the worry of things either going missing or things getting damaged. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Please be aware that our gates are locked a few minutes after 8.50am, which is the latest time one of our classes starts the school day. If your child arrives at 9am, then they are already between 10-15 minutes late.

Good Attendance Draw!!
Don’t forget, for every week that your child has an attendance of 96%+, they are allocated a digital ticket for a draw that will take place every half term. The more weeks with an attendance of 96%+, the more chances to win!

World Festivals and Celebrations
Ashura - Islam (4-5th July 2025)
Ashura is a significant day in Islam, particularly for Shia Muslims, commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, a grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, in the Battle of Karbala. It is a day of mourning and reflection on Hussein's sacrifice and the injustices he faced. While Shia Muslims primarily observe it as a day of sorrow, Sunni Muslims also acknowledge Ashura, often as a day of fasting and remembrance of Moses's liberation from the Egyptians.

Well, it has continued to be a busy half term and we still have so much to look forward to!
It was so lovely to see most of our children come back from attending their new schools with such positive stories and excitement for what is to come. I know they will all continue to thrive in their new settings and hope they know how proud of them we are.
As for the rest of the school, they will be moving up to their new classes and meeting their new teachers on Thursday 17th July (children to register in their normal classes and they will then move up to spend some time in their new classes). Transition is always and exciting but nerve wracking time and we will be doing all we can in the next few weeks to make sure that everyone feels confident moving onto their next year group!

Can I just make a quick plea and reminder about attendance and punctuality. This is an area that still needs improving! We still have a number of children arriving late for school and it causes a lot of disruption in the school office at the start of the day. Gates are open from 8.35am and school starts at 8.45am for Nursery, Reception, Year 4 and Year 6 and 8.50am for Years 1,2,3 and 5. Gates close at 9am and are left open for any latecomers. Therefore, arriving after this is missing a considerable chunk of the day each day and often causes anxiety for children having to go into class once everything has started. Please could we have a push on punctuality this last 13 days and make a difference!
Next week has both the Year 4 trip and our visit from the Animals to Year 1 to look forward to. Exciting!
